Pause and regain control

What to do when online play stops feeling safe

You do not need to solve everything at once. Start by reducing access, protecting your money and bringing another person into the situation.

Reduce access before making another decision

  1. Stop payments. Do not add money to recover losses, unlock funds or answer a request that arrived through chat.
  2. Secure the account. Change compromised credentials and protect the recovery email.
  3. Protect essential funds. Contact your bank or payment provider through a trusted channel if spending or unauthorised access is a concern.
  4. Bring in another person. A trusted person can help review messages, terms and transactions more calmly.
  5. Use professional support. A local health professional or recognised gambling-harm service can help create a practical next-step plan.

Preserve evidence

Keep transaction references, messages and screenshots. Do not continue a conversation that asks for passwords, verification codes, remote device access or another payment.

Create a pause

Remove saved payment methods, use account restrictions where available and ask your payment institution about controls that can reduce further transactions.

Immediate danger

If you or another person may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services now. This website provides general information and is not an emergency, medical, legal or financial service.
